Every Paddle Tells a Story — Competition Terms
Last updated: 6 August 2026
1. About the competition
These terms apply to the Every Paddle Tells a Story — What’s Yours? competition (the “Competition”). By entering, you agree to these terms.
The promoter is Marcello Sports, of 15B Beveridge Lane, Ellistown, Coalville, LE67 1FB, United Kingdom (the “Promoter”, “Marcello”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Questions may be sent to marcellosupplier@gmail.com.
This Competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram or TikTok. Entrants release Instagram and TikTok from responsibility for the administration of the Competition to the extent permitted by law.
2. Eligibility
- The Competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom who are aged 18 or over at the time of entry.
- Entrants must own, or have legitimate permission to use, the genuine Marcello paddleboard shown in their entry.
- Employees of the Promoter, members of their immediate families and anyone professionally connected with the Competition may not enter.
- No purchase is necessary.
3. Competition period
The Competition opens at 00:01 BST on 7 August 2026 and closes at 23:59 BST on 13 September 2026 (the “Competition Period”). Both the public social-media post and the completed entry form must be received during the Competition Period. Entries received outside this period will not be eligible.
4. How to enter
To submit a valid entry, an entrant must:
- Create an original photo or video that clearly shows a genuine, recognisable Marcello paddleboard.
- Choose one of the three eligible content types described in section 5.
- Publish the content from a public Instagram or TikTok account during the Competition Period.
- Include #MyMarcelloPaddleStory and tag @marcelloisup in the post or caption.
- Complete the official entry form at www.marcellosports.co.uk/pages/every-paddle-tells-a-story-what-s-yours, selecting the platform and content type and providing the public post link.
- Keep the post public and available until at least 31 October 2026 so that eligibility and judging can be completed.
Inviting Marcello as an Instagram collaborator is optional. Whether Marcello accepts or declines a collaboration request does not affect eligibility or judging.
Entrants are responsible for using any advertising or branded-content disclosure required by applicable law or by the relevant social-media platform.
5. Eligible content types
Each entry must principally fit one of the following categories:
- Beginner Paddleboarding Tips: a clear, practical tip that could help a beginner, such as adjusting paddle length, getting back onto the board after falling in, finding balance or standing up for the first time.
- Everyday Paddleboarding: an everyday paddle on a lake, at the coast or on a river, including relaxed paddling with a dog, children, family or friends.
- Paddleboarding Moments to Remember: the story of a memorable experience, such as a first paddle, first successful stand or first paddle with a pet, accompanied by photos or video featuring the Marcello paddleboard.
6. Entry limits
- Each person may submit a maximum of one Instagram entry and one TikTok entry.
- A separate entry form must be completed for each platform using the same email address.
- An entrant who enters on both platforms may receive only their single highest-ranking prize across the whole Competition.
- Each eligible person may receive only one participation reward, even if they submit a valid entry on both platforms.
- Entries made through multiple identities, email addresses or accounts in an attempt to avoid these limits may be disqualified.
7. Entry requirements
An entry must:
- be the entrant’s own original work and not infringe another person’s copyright, trade mark, privacy, publicity or other rights;
- show a genuine Marcello paddleboard clearly enough for the Promoter to verify it;
- have been created and posted during the Competition Period;
- comply with the rules and community guidelines of the relevant platform;
- not contain unlawful, dangerous, discriminatory, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise seriously offensive material;
- not encourage unsafe paddling or the breaking of access, navigation or local water rules; and
- not contain another brand’s paddleboard as the featured board.
The entrant must have permission from every identifiable adult shown. Where an identifiable person under 18 appears, the entrant must have permission from that child’s parent or legal guardian. The Promoter may request reasonable evidence of permission.
The Promoter may request an original file, proof of the posting date, proof of UK residence, proof of age, evidence that the board is a genuine Marcello paddleboard or other reasonable evidence needed to verify eligibility. Failure to provide reasonable evidence by the stated deadline may result in disqualification.
8. Safety
Entrants are responsible for their own safety and for the safety of anyone included in their content. Do not create content in unsafe conditions or take unnecessary risks for the Competition. Check local access, weather, wind direction, tides, river flow, water quality and local restrictions before launching. Use a suitable buoyancy aid or personal flotation device, a leash appropriate to the environment, suitable clothing and a waterproof means of calling for help where appropriate.
Content will not receive extra credit for risk-taking, difficult conditions or dangerous activity. The Promoter may disqualify content that appears to encourage unsafe behaviour.
9. Judging
Instagram and TikTok entries will be judged as two separate prize tracks using the same criteria. Follower numbers, likes, views and whether a collaboration request is accepted will not form part of the judging.
Eligible entries will be scored as follows:
- Authentic story and emotional impact — 35%
- Creativity and point of view — 25%
- Marcello board visibility and relevance — 20%
- Clarity and usable quality — 20%
A judging panel that includes at least one demonstrably independent judge will assess eligible entries. If two entries have the same overall score, the higher score for authentic story and emotional impact will decide the ranking. If they remain tied, creativity and point of view will be considered next. If they are still tied, the independent judge will make the final decision. The names of the judges will be made available on reasonable request.
10. Ranked prizes
There are six ranked winners on Instagram and six ranked winners on TikTok, for a total of twelve ranked prizes:
- First place — one winner per platform: one new Marcello paddleboard from the 2027 range.
- Second place — two winners per platform: one electric pump designed for paddleboard inflation for each winner.
- Third place — three winners per platform: each winner may choose either one new-season backpack or one paddleboard fin.
The Promoter will confirm the available model, size, colour and package contents with each provisional winner. Prize images used in promotional material are illustrative. If a stated prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside the Promoter’s reasonable control, the Promoter may provide a prize of equal or greater value and a similar nature. There is no cash alternative, and prizes may not be transferred or resold before delivery.
11. Participation reward
Every eligible entrant whose entry passes the eligibility review may choose one of the following:
- one £20 Marcello discount voucher for a future Marcello paddleboard purchase; or
- one waterproof bag.
Only one participation reward is available per eligible person, regardless of the number of valid platform entries. The voucher is valid for 12 months from its date of issue and may be used on an eligible order with a minimum product value of £50 before the voucher is applied and excluding delivery charges. It may not be exchanged for cash or combined with another discount code. The Promoter will contact eligible entrants by email to arrange their choice and provide any delivery or redemption instructions.
12. Results, contact and claiming a prize
- Eligibility review is expected to end on 16 September 2026.
- Judging is expected to end on 23 September 2026.
- Provisional winners will be contacted using the email address supplied on the entry form and are expected to be announced on or around 28 September 2026.
- A provisional winner must reply and provide any reasonably requested information by 23:59 BST on 5 October 2026.
The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to contact each provisional winner. If a provisional winner does not respond by the deadline, cannot be verified, refuses the prize or is found to be ineligible, the Promoter may offer the prize to the next highest-scoring eligible entry.
Ranked prizes and participation rewards will begin to be fulfilled in April 2027. All prizes and rewards will be issued by 31 May 2027, subject to the winner or entrant providing the information reasonably needed for delivery.
13. Winner information
To show that valid awards took place, the Promoter may publish or make available the surname and county of major prize winners and, where applicable, their winning entries. An entrant may object to this publication, or ask for the amount of information to be reduced, by emailing marcellosupplier@gmail.com. The Promoter may still provide winner information and winning entries to the Advertising Standards Authority if required.
14. Ownership and permission to use entries
Entrants keep ownership of their content.
By entering, each entrant grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence for five years from the closing date to reproduce, resize, crop, caption, translate, edit for length, publish and share the submitted content for:
- administering and publicising the Competition and its results;
- Marcello’s websites, organic social-media channels and email communications; and
- internal presentations and records relating to the Competition.
The Promoter will not sell ownership of the entrant’s content to another organisation. Where reasonably practical, the Promoter will credit the entrant’s social-media account. The Promoter will not materially alter the meaning of an entrant’s story. Any paid advertising use outside the licence above, or use after the five-year period, requires separate agreement unless otherwise permitted by law.
15. Data protection
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Every Paddle Tells a Story Privacy Notice. Marketing permission is optional and does not affect eligibility or judging.
16. Administration and disqualification
The Promoter may reject or disqualify an entry where it reasonably believes that these terms have been breached, information is false or misleading, an entrant has interfered with the fair running of the Competition, or the entry creates a material safety, legal or reputational risk.
The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, inaccessible or not received because of platform, network, device or technical problems outside its reasonable control. Proof of posting is not proof that the entry form was received.
If circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control make it necessary to suspend, cancel or amend the Competition, the Promoter will do so only where necessary, will act fairly and will communicate material changes clearly. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. General
If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
These terms are governed by the law applicable to the entrant’s part of the United Kingdom, and the courts of that part of the United Kingdom will have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
